“You know Marc, he’ll find every positive in that incident.”

After the Americas MotoGP, there has been a suggestion that Marc Marquez recognizes Pedro Acosta’s similar mindset on the track.

Acosta continued his sensational rookie season by leading a MotoGP race for the first time, ultimately securing second place behind Maverick Vinales.

Earlier in the race, Acosta made a move past Jorge Martin, before Marquez took the lead on his Ducati.

“Marc is starting to realize that Pedro shares similarities with him,” noted Michael Laverty to TNT Sports.

“He will fight back every time. The battle between both riders was clean, but you can see that Acosta is eager to immediately respond against Marc.”

Marquez’s slip into the gravel, relinquishing the race lead, occurred at Turn 11, paving the way for Vinales’ triumph and Acosta’s strongest MotoGP finish yet.

Gresini rider Marquez attributed his crash to a braking issue.

“I couldn’t make sense of his crash at all,” analyzed Neil Hodgson.

“It was quite strange. He crashed very early, clearly having an issue with his brakes.

“A few of his maneuvers seemed unintended.

“However, if there’s even a slight problem with the front brake, if the lever isn’t in the right position, it can lead to that.

“He’ll be somewhat satisfied now that he understands why he crashed.

“And that’s in the past. There are many positives to take.

“At the time, he was leading the race, the top Ducati rider on the older bike.

“You know Marc, he’ll find every positive aspect from that incident.”

Marquez has solidified his position as the fastest rider on a Ducati GP23 this season.

Yet, despite arguably being unlucky, he has finished outside of the points in the past two races.

Marquez currently sits 44 points behind championship leader Martin after three rounds.

For Ducati’s highly touted new star, he couldn’t validate the many predictions that he would secure his first win on the new bike.

Marquez has triumphed seven times at the Circuit of the Americas, but his chance for an eighth victory ended in the gravel.
