EVERYTHING ABOUT FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
In 2024, Fabio di Giannantonio continues his MotoGP journey aboard a Ducati, but this time with the VR46 team.
His remarkable performances towards the end of the 2023 season secured him a spot in MotoGP, defying expectations that he might return to Moto2. With his impressive results, he earned a ride alongside Marco Bezzecchi.
di Giannantonio’s breakthrough came with his maiden MotoGP win at the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix, where he outpaced eventual champion Pecco Bagnaia.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO – JOURNEY TO MOTOGP
After achieving victories in both Moto3 and Moto2 with Gresini, di Giannantonio spent two seasons with Speed Up in Moto2. Despite not clinching a world championship in the lower classes, he finished as the runner-up in the 2018 Moto3 series.
In 2022, di Giannantonio made his MotoGP debut with the Gresini Ducati team. He showcased his potential by being the fastest rookie at the Jerez test in November.
While his debut MotoGP season was mixed, di Giannantonio continued with the Gresini Ducati team for 2023. Although he couldn’t match the achievements of his teammate Enea Bastianini, di Giannantonio’s season had its highlights, including a surprise pole position at Mugello, his second in grand prix racing.
His mid-season performances were particularly strong, securing points in five of seven rounds, highlighted by an eighth-place finish in Germany. However, a string of non-scores in the latter part of the season dampened his momentum.
Despite the challenges, di Giannantonio continued to show resilience, salvaging a 15th place at the Valencia finale. For the 2023 season, he worked with Frankie Carchedi, Joan Mir’s former Suzuki crew chief, aboard the GP22 Ducati alongside new teammate Alex Marquez.
