Bagnaia skillfully avoids a question regarding his 2025 factory Ducati teammate.
Bagnaia says that he “doesn’t care” which rider shares the factory Ducati garage with him in 2025.
Despite the reigning double MotoGP champion signing a new two-year deal before the current season commenced, teammate Enea Bastianini is among several riders yet to finalize their future plans.
Bastianini is reportedly in contention for the coveted seat, facing competition from reigning title runner-up and early 2024 championship leader Jorge Martin (Pramac), as well as six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez (Gresini).
When asked about his preference among the trio to be his teammate next season, Bagnaia responded:
“I’m focused on my path, and I’m not concerned! Ducati will make the decision. Nevertheless, I believe it will be the one who deserves the seat the most.”
The Italian made these comments on the eve of this weekend’s COTA round, aiming for redemption after a crash from a commanding lead at the same venue one year prior.
“It’s a track I enjoy. Last year, I showed strong competitiveness. I felt great and nothing [more to add]. Unfortunately, I made an error and crashed in the race. However, I believe that with good work, as always, we can be competitive once more,” Bagnaia remarked.
“COTA presents a different challenge compared to Portimao, so we’ll assess our performance and strive to improve upon the sensations from Portimao, which caused some difficulties in the race.”
Bagnaia has now dropped to fourth place, trailing Martin by 23 points following a clash with Marc Marquez in the closing stages at Portimao.
Among the Ducati riders, Bastianini stands as the sole victor at COTA, securing his Gresini triumph in 2022.
