Jorge Martin has expressed his desire to team up with Francesco Bagnaia at the Lenovo Ducati squad.

Finishing as the runner-up to Francesco Bagnaia last season, Jorge Martin is aiming to clinch the MotoGP championship in 2024, with hopes of earning a promotion to the factory Ducati team.

Amid strong speculation of a move to the Lenovo Ducati team last season, Martin was ultimately overlooked as the official team opted to retain Enea Bastianini, who was already under contract.

“Martin reiterated his desire to join the factory team in 2025, stating, ‘I am super happy [at Pramac]. I may not have the best seat currently, and I would have already signed for the next two seasons with the factory Ducati team if it were up to me. But they know what I want. That is my primary goal for the future, yet for now, I feel extremely content here, and it’s a great place to compete.’

If Martin contends for the 2024 title, or even secures the championship, it’s likely the Spaniard could secure a seat alongside Bagnaia.

The expectations for Martin are crystal clear, but despite his impressive performances in 2023, he prefers not to dwell on the past.

“Last season was fantastic, but it’s already behind us; we are focused on the present,” Martin stated. “We have to put in the hard work. Testing went well. I feel more comfortable on the new bike, and I’ve improved my speed.

“However, I believe we need more track time, although I was competitive right from the start, which is promising as we had some struggles in the early stages in previous years.”

“I am fully focused, and I believe I’ve put in a great effort during the winter. I am prepared for anything.

One potential hurdle for Martin’s move to the Lenovo Ducati team is the star-studded lineup of the Italian brand, which includes Marc Marquez, Marco Bezzecchi, Fabio Di Giannantonio, and Bastianini.

All four of these riders have claimed victories in MotoGP races and will likely aim for a spot in the factory team.

However, Martin remains undaunted by the competition, stating, “I don’t want to dwell on that. I see myself as my own competition for that seat. I will give my best effort and strive to earn it.”
