“Securing consecutive MotoGP podiums in the sprint format left Marc Marquez satisfied, yet the eight-time world champion is hungry for more at COTA.”

“At the Americas MotoGP at COTA, Marc Marquez claimed a comfortable sprint podium by outpacing championship leader Jorge Martin to second place. However, the seven-time victor at the Texan circuit found no solution to Maverick Vinales, who led every single lap of the sprint.”

“Struggling to keep up with Vinales in earlier qualifying sessions, Marquez emphasized the significance of his performance before the sprint.

“Qualifying practice is pivotal in the weekend, and starting on the front row will certainly make it easier to challenge the frontrunners,” said Marquez after securing third place in Q2.

“However, yesterday feels like a distant memory, and today we closed the gap a bit. Still, there are aspects from FP2 that we need to understand better, to see if they improve our rhythm and race pace.

“I’m feeling more and more comfortable, with improvements throughout the weekend.”

Moving on to the sprint race, Marquez initially kept pace with Vinales until a new fastest lap on lap three from the Aprilia rider created a gap.

This left the former Honda rider vulnerable to Pedro Acosta and Martin, with Acosta making an attempt to overtake on lap six.”
