Fabio Quartararo on Fresh Yamaha Deal: “I Believe This Will Aid Us… as Our Intentions are Clearly Defined.”

Fabio Quartararo’s renewal with Yamaha for the 2025 and 2026 MotoGP seasons signifies a shift towards full concentration on their upcoming tasks, commencing with this weekend’s race at COTA.

The early announcement of Quartararo’s re-signing took many by surprise, especially amidst a modest start to the season and speculations of interest from Aprilia, with their Portimao Sprint victor.

Despite the initial uncertainties, the former world champion is resolute in his belief that both he and Yamaha have clearly outlined their goals, primarily focused on reviving the factory’s winning ways.

“I’m delighted to confirm my continued partnership with Yamaha. I am confident this decision will benefit us, as we have clearly defined our objectives,” Quartararo stated.

“My aim is to steer Yamaha back to the top of the podium, and the team is equally determined to enhance the bike’s performance. With this clarity, we can now direct our full attention towards the necessary work ahead.”

However, the road to improvement faced a hiccup as the team’s inaugural private test of the season, scheduled for the Monday following Portimao, was hindered by adverse weather conditions.

“As we arrive in Austin, there is significant groundwork ahead. Losing the chance to test in Portimao means we must put in the hard yards this weekend,” Quartararo emphasized. His history at COTA includes a podium in Moto3 back in 2015 and a premier-class podium finish last year.

Team Director Massimo Meregalli added, “The cancellation of our private test in Portimao due to heavy rain was disappointing. Yet, safety remains our top priority, and risking our riders in perilous conditions was not an option. Now, we must make the most of the time we have on track to make up for the lost opportunity.”

“COTA presents its challenges, but we’re feeling optimistic for this round. Our riders have a fondness for this circuit and have delivered strong performances here before. The team also thrives on the vibrant atmosphere of this race weekend.

“With Fabio’s commitment confirmed, there’s a great sense of positivity within the team. We’re all driven and motivated to get to work, eagerly anticipating the Austin rodeo.”

Quartararo’s new teammate, Alex Rins, secured victory at last year’s COTA race for LCR Honda, adding to the anticipation for this weekend’s event.
