Valentino Rossi was greatly impressed by the Qatar MotoGP race.

Valentino Rossi was immensely impressed by a MotoGP rider’s performance in Qatar, prompting him to send an immediate text message.

The fortunate recipient of Rossi’s message was Pedro Acosta.

Mundo Deportivo quoted Acosta saying, “After the race, Valentino reached out to me and was like, ‘What’s going on here!’

“Such gestures are heartwarming…”

Making his debut in the premier class, Acosta stood out in his first MotoGP race at the 2024 season-opener in Qatar.

A standout moment was when he overtook Marc Marquez.

While the Tech3 GASGAS rider slipped to a ninth-place finish in the later stages, his performance earned widespread acclaim in his debut race.

Receiving praise from MotoGP legend Rossi marks the latest significant moment in his rise to prominence.

Acosta participated in Rossi’s 100km of Champions event at his ranch in Italy earlier this season, joining the usual suspects such as Pecco Bagnaia, Marco Bezzecchi, Luca Marini, and others.

This weekend at the Portuguese MotoGP in Portimao, Acosta will have his second opportunity to make an impression.

“Portimao is a track that I enjoy, and after Qatar, we have a very positive feeling,” he stated.

“The main goal is to continue adapting to the bike and the category, aiming to maintain the momentum from Qatar.

“In other words, we aim for a strong Friday and Saturday to enter the sprint and race from a favorable grid position.

“I am eagerly looking forward to riding the MotoGP bike on this circuit.”

His teammate, Augusto Fernandez, chimed in: “We are excited for another race week in Portugal following a challenging Qatar GP.

“Our focus is on enhancing our connection with the bike, striving to regain confidence so we can compete for better positions.

“I have a strong liking for the Portimao circuit, so I am enthusiastic about the week ahead.”
