Continuing his impressive Catalunya WorldSBK weekend, former MotoGP rider Danilo Petrucci secured seventh and fifth places in Sunday’s two races.

In Saturday’s WorldSBK Race 1, Danilo Petrucci finished seventh, displaying late-race pace that carried over into Sunday’s double-header.

Despite a challenging start in Race 2, Petrucci showcased his ability to recover as he fought his way back through the field.

“A top five is always a satisfying result, even though it’s our baseline target,” remarked Petrucci. “We secured the top independent position in Race 2 and collected some valuable points, so it’s a positive outcome!

“This track, in particular, posed challenges with its low grip and tire management.

“Overall, I’m pleased because I feel extremely comfortable with the bike, and the team is performing exceptionally well. I’m eagerly looking forward to Assen, which happens to be one of my favorite circuits.

“Hopefully, we’ll have nice, cool weather there. The track should offer good grip in the fast corners, and I can’t wait to attack those fifth gear turns with the Ducati Panigale V4 R, a bike I’m growing increasingly confident with.”

While Petrucci continued to shine, fellow satellite Ducati rider Michael Rinaldi faced adversity with a crash in Race 2 after contact with Andrea Locatelli and Axel Bassani.

“It was a tough weekend, starting on a rough note and ending even worse,” explained Rinaldi. “In turn 4, I was accelerating alongside Locatelli but had to take the inside line, unintentionally making contact with Axel Bassani.”

“Such incidents occur in racing. It was an unfortunate accident where I inadvertently affected another innocent rider, and for that, I apologize.

“Let’s put this behind us and focus on the next race.”
