Miguel Oliveira describes this weekend as the most ‘special’ moment of the 2024 MotoGP season.

Returning to the track where he secured his second MotoGP victory with Tech 3 KTM, Miguel Oliveira is filled with optimism as he approaches his home round.

In Portugal, Oliveira enjoys tremendous support, and with the 29-year-old riding a highly competitive 2024-spec Aprilia for Trackhouse Racing, expectations are soaring for the rider.

“The Portuguese GP holds the utmost significance for me,” said Oliveira. “As a Portuguese rider, racing in my home country evokes the highest emotions in terms of competition.

“My aim is to continue improving my connection with the bike and, of course, to demonstrate strong pace to compete for top positions on the track.”

While this weekend carries immense importance for Oliveira, the same sentiment applies to Raul Fernandez, albeit for different reasons.

During the season opener, Fernandez displayed more promise than Oliveira. However, an error code prevented him from starting the race from his original grid position, leading him to switch to his second bike equipped with used tires.

Despite ultimately retiring from the race, Fernandez is eager to prove his competitiveness once again.

“I’m looking forward to arriving in Portimao! After the frustrating issues in Qatar, I am eager to get back on the bike,” Fernandez stated.

“I aim to demonstrate my competitiveness and relish the joy of riding. I believe I can deliver a strong performance in Portugal – I enjoy the circuit.

“So, day by day, we will focus on enhancements to ensure a better race than our outing in the first round in Qatar.”
