Andrea Iannone described his return to world championship racing as ‘magical,’ achieving two top-five results.

Among those achievements was a podium finish in Race 1, where Andrea Iannone claimed a brilliant third place, following the WorldSBK debut win by Nicolo Bulega.

Although hindered by an issue with his handlebar in the Superpole Race, Iannone displayed resilience, securing a remarkable fourth place in Race 2 after starting from 14th.

Speaking about the issue that arose during the 10-lap Superpole Race, Iannone explained, “Many, many things, but in any case, we concluded this weekend with a positive energy and feeling.

“We secured third place in the first race. Unfortunately, in the Superpole race, we lost grip on the end bar, which was dangerous and a strange experience for me for the first time in my life.

“In Race 2, with the first tire, I was really pleased because the feeling was incredible. However, with the second tire, I lost everything. The feeling worsened, but it was a good starting point.”

Despite his impressive recovery in Race 2, Iannone appeared to be in stronger form before the red flag was waved.

Nevertheless, Iannone expressed no frustration at missing out on a second podium: “Not frustrated, but when there is potential for more and you don’t achieve it, then you aren’t completely satisfied.

“I’m 70% happy, and it was an incredible comeback.”

“I can’t dwell on the negatives, and we must maintain this momentum and keep pushing forward.

“Perhaps in Barcelona, things will improve. I’m truly excited.

“We faced a tough battle because every rider is quick.

“The Kawasaki showed great speed on the straights, and the BMW is fast too, but I relished every moment. It was a magical weekend.”
